A quick weekend recap headed your way!
Yesterday was such a long and eventful day - it felt like it spanned over three separate days, or more. In fact, this whole week has been so long and eventful…. I think the break was as uneventful as it could get, that everything is such a contrast in comparison.
And even though I said I wasn’t going training on Thursday, I went anyway. I do not regret going.
On Friday morning I was faced with another one of those brutally early 8 AM math lectures. I was done with school at 2 PM, hopped on the bus home and after resting up a bit and packing a bag with me, I went back to Lund.
Since freshers is over and done with and has been for quite a while now, we’d planned to throw together a thank-you party for our mentor/group leaders we had during freshers.
As plans don’t always go the way you hoped, Sofia and my plans clashed rather completely.
I’ve mentioned that we were recently elected for the board of D-Chip, so our new president deemed it a great team-building activity to have a kick-off at her apartment. Aaaand, it took place last night.
So I ended up spending about an hour and a half with our freshers group, and when we could be late no longer, Sofia and I ran off to our president’s place for dinner and games. [She was also one of the fresher’s leaders, Miss Rosa Ruby.]
The kick-off party was pyjama-themed. We were a total of 7 girls, and Sanne [our dear president], had prepared wine-tasting games, dinner and dessert for us. She had managed to pull some strings and had the boys come in and serve us, then sing for us.
We really had a great time, talking until the wee hours of 3 in the morning. By that time we realised that some of us [including myself] had to be in school at 9:15, so we called it a night and I spent the remaining hours of the night at Sofia’s place.
After 4 quick hours of sleep, I got up, freshened up, said my goodbyes to a sleepy and disoriented Sofia- and left for school.
In a nutshell: I’ve joined the faction of Computer Science that’s in charge of arranging pub nights, dinners and big events that include food and alcohol. [I.e. I’ve signed up to work either in the bar, kitchen or as a waitress during such events] To be able to work with alcohol, mainly serving alcohol- you have to be aware of the legal proceedings and effects of alcohol etc. etc. That is why I was at a 7-hour alcohol lecture today.
As I mentioned earlier today …..I was glad I had my kindle with me.
At least I’m certified for that part now. [It’s called an A-certificate, if you proceed to take the B and C certificates you could officially open your own bar]. And what I have right now gives me the right to legally serve alcohol…Or so I presume. We were gravely misinformed about a lot of things concerning this lecture today, so I’m not sure I even want to ramble on about it at this point.
To sum it up:
Friday night: Great fun, definitely a night you wished you could’ve been at two places at once.
Saturday morning: Surviving on 4 hours of sleep, listening to what could sometimes turn into, pointless discussions in the lecture hall though mostly I zoned out with Sanne at the back, reading Catching Fire.
I’m going to hop into bed before I collapse now.
Goodnight.
